Stephen Ibsen scored three touchdowns as Castle Rock hung tough with No. 6 Eatonville before falling to the Cruisers 24-18 in a 1A district playoff Friday at Kelso High School.

Ibsen’s 5-yard touchdown touchdown run in the second quarter gave Castle Rock (7-3) at 7-3 lead.

After Eatonville’s Ky Nation scored on an 80-yard touchdown run, the Rockets answered back with a 19-yard touchdown run by Ibsen.

But Job Kralik’s 45-yard touchdown pass to Nation gave the Cruisers a 17-12 halftime lead.

The Rockets appeared to primed to retake the lead in the third quarter, but a big hit at the 1-yard line by the Cruisers turned Castle Rock away.

Kralik’s 3-yard touchdown put Eatonville up 24-12 with 1:01 left in the third.

Trevor Rogen’s 13-yard touchdown pass to Ibsen with 4:55 to play got Castle Rock within six.

But the Cruisers recovered the onside kick and ran out the clock.

The game was moved from Castle Rock to Kelso High School after Friday’s heavy rain made Castle Rock’s grass field unplayable.
