Washougal’s first football playoff game at Fishback Stadium in nearly 30 years will have to wait one more day.

Washougal had its Friday 2A district playoff against Shelton postponed to 5 p.m. Saturday at Fishback Stadium after the Highclimbers experienced travel issues amidst Friday’s storm.

Washougal athletic director Brian Wilde said one of Shelton’s buses broke down. Then the Highclimbers got stuck in traffic after U.S. Highway 101 was closed just south of Shelton because of a crash Friday afternoon.

One of the possible detour routes, State Highway 108, was experiencing more delays because of downed trees, according to the Washington Department of Transportation.

The last time Washougal hosted a playoff game at Fishback was in 1994 when the Panthers lost to Aberdeen 10-6 in a Class AA district playoff on a mud-clogged field.

Two more area games had to be relocated Friday to turf fields as heavy rains descended on the region.

Castle Rock moved its 1A district playoff against Eatonville from Castle Rock to Schroeder Field at Kelso High School on Friday.

Mark Morris announced that its 2A district playoff against Black Hills of Tumwater on Saturday would be moved from Longview Memorial Stadium to Woodland High School. The kickoff will remain at 3 p.m.
