Australian filmmaker George Miller’s exploration of storytelling tops the DVD releases for the week of Nov. 15.

“Three Thousand Years of Longing”: Tilda Swinton stars as a narratologist who encounters a djinn, played by Idris Elba, who grants her three wishes and recounts his experiences in this cerebral detour from the director of “Mad Max: Fury Road.”

“While Miller asks the audience to level up to their existential exploration, in posing questions about the purpose of storytelling, and perhaps, about the lack of magic in our technological, science-driven world, the film doesn’t offer up any concrete answers, leaving us adrift in a sea of provocative queries,” writes Tribune News Service critic Katie Walsh in her review.

Also new on DVD Nov. 15

“Pearl”: Mia Goth stars in writer-director Ti West’s prequel to this year’s “X,” in which Goth played dual roles as the old woman killer who takes out a crew of young pornographers making a movie on her Texas ranch, as well as one of the young stars of the production within the film.

“Moonage Daydream”: Documentary film from director Brett Morgen examining the cosmic life and music of David Bowie.

“Gigi & Nate”: A young man left quadriplegic by a life-threatening bacterial infection struggles to find meaning in life until he gets a formerly abused monkey as a service animal.

“Christmas in Paradise”: A daughter goes to the Caribbean to retrieve her dad after he retreats to a tropical island following a breakup, only to discover he’s actually having the time of his life in this holiday comedy featuring Kelsey Grammer, Elizabeth Hurley and Billy Ray Cyrus.

“Jerry and Marge Go Large”: Bryan Cranston and Annette Bening star as a married couple who exploit a lottery loophole in this Paramount+ film based on a true story.

“Doom Patrol: The Complete Third Season”: HBO Max series following the adventures of the unfairly maligned DC superhero team.
