OLYMPIA — The Washington State Department of Transportation issued a travel advisory on Nov. 14 for work coming Wednesday to the South Sound Interstate 5 corridor.

According to the advisory, maintenance teams will be doing drainage work, guardrail repair and more along the southbound exit ramp from the interstate to Route 101 during daytime hours. Traffic will likely be more congested than normal.

From 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the southbound right exit lane will be closed between the two major roads, and the right lane of state Highway 101 will be closed from the I-5 merge to the Cooper Point exit. The work is weather dependent and could be rescheduled.

Crews have been working during daytime hours to ensure their safety. Workers are more likely to not be seen and drivers less aware of construction zones and markings at night.
