Letter: Sen. Murray deserves thanks

I would like to thank Sen. Patty Murray for ensuring that the state of Washington combines care for the environment with its success as an economic and industrial hub of the nation. She has demonstrated this through her support of the Inflation Reduction Act focused on investments into Native, communities of color and low-income communities so they can share in the benefits in the transition to clean-energy technology. Her role in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act helped to remediate legacy pollution in those communities.

The Environmental Justice for All Act (S. 872) will ensure that these communities disproportionately affected by pollution will be involved in the planning and permitting processes for both new industrial and mining development and for cleanup of currently contaminated properties. I hope she will co-sponsor this bill as a natural extension of her leadership in environmental justice for her constituents.
