Letter: Jesus didn’t teach hate

I was sad to read the article about Sure Foundation Baptist Church (“Vancouver pastor condemned for anti-LGBTQ sermon,” The Columbian, Nov. 25). I would like to share a word with pastor Aaron Thompson and his congregation: Please read your Bibles. You call yourselves Christian, so carefully read the New Testament. You will not see examples of Jesus talking or acting in hate. You will see him angry at hypocrites and thieves hiding under the guise of being church leaders. You will see him showing love to the outcast. You will see love, forgiveness and caring for others. You will not read about Jesus being hateful.

I pray you will follow the teaching you claim to believe.
