Letter: New houses are nonsensical

It bewilders me that developers are building expensive houses without a front lawn or at least enough space between you and the sidewalk that people walking by will hear you, and vice versa. If you can afford the million dollar plus price tag, you can probably afford something with a little bit of privacy.

And talk about potential problems, I also saw a stop sign is at the end of a hill which can get slippery in the winter, and already almost hidden by foliage: an accident waiting to happen. The least that will happen is that the house at the end of the ramp will be bathed at night by constant headlights from cars illuminating their living room. Did they do a traffic impact study? I had called about this and was told everything was legally permitted.

I was told these aren’t spec houses and that they don’t build unless someone has purchased the house. I thought it was a bit of a stretch to put 20 homes on five acres, but that’s what they planned. But putting these huge houses so close to the street where your front yard will be taken up mostly by a sidewalk?

There are so many other beautiful properties in Vancouver.
