Prep highlights: Mountain View golfers win 3A GSHL title for sixth year in a row

Mountain View’s Grady Millar shot a 2-under-par 70 and teammate Alex Rigby had an even-par 72 at Three Rivers Golf Course as the Thunder beat Kelso 304-328 to capture their sixth consecutive 3A Greater St. Helens League title.

Mountain View heads into its district tournament undefeated on the season.

Millar had rounds of 33 and 37 in the 18-hole match with the Hilanders. Rigby had a 38 and 34.

Spencer Moody’s 75 and Braden Kendrick’s 87 rounded out Mountain View’s team score.

Rex Burt was Kelso’s low golfer with a 75.

Stars of the day

  • Adrianne Agbayani and Modesta Rivera, Evergreen girls soccer. Each scored three goals with two of Rivera’s coming on penalty kicks as the Plainsmen beat Fort Vancouver 6-0.
  • Aubrey Horner, Mountain View girls swimming, won the 500 freestyle, 100 breaststroke and was on the Thunders’ winning 200 medley and 200 free relay teams in a five-team meet at Kelso.
  • Bailey Trahan, Skyview girls swimming, won the 200 free, 100 backstroke and was on the Storm’s winning 200 medley and 200 free relay teams in a seven-team meet at Mark Morris.
  • Lucas Walburn, Columbia River boys tennis, came back from a set down to beat Fort Vancouver’s Andrew Walcyzk 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 singles.
  • Charlie Palmersheim, Columbia River boys tennis, also had a comeback victory over Fort, winning No. 2 singles 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 over Antonio Barajas.
  • Chase Wilkerson, Fort Vancouver boys tennis, not to be outdone, won at No. 3 singles with a 3-set comeback, beating River’s Nate Sheron 2-6, 6-1, 6-2.
  • Nathan Chen and Austin Shin, Camas boys tennis, kept the 3-set comebacks rolling by winning at No. 1 doubles against Mountain View 1-6, 6-3, 6-3.
  • Ivan Wu and Kyle Wen, Camas boys tennis, outlasted Mountain View at No. 3 doubles in two tiebreakers and a super tiebreaker 7-6 (4), 6-7 (5), 10-4.
