Letter: County has questions to answer

By Susan Caddell, Vancouver

Why is the Clark County Council creating a whole new department to manage the Clark County jail? Why is the Clark County Council not waiting until after the election? Why has David Shook been immediately named to head this new Jail Services Department after he lost his bid to become sheriff of Clark County in the primary election? At what point was there opportunity for public comment? What is this additional department going to cost taxpayers?

Also, why does Clark County need a police training center? If the state of Washington needs an additional facility, shouldn’t it be placed in a more central location?

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
