Clayton Maus had a touchdown reception, touchdown run and returned an interception for a score as Union beat Battle Ground 49-25 in a 4A Greater St. Helens League game Friday in Battle Ground.

Union (3-4, 1-0 4A GSHL) also got two touchdowns from offensive linemen. Conner McChesney had a 6-yard touchdown run, and Joe Merlino took a lateral from Caden Drobinski 3 yards for a score as Union built a 21-0 lead in the first quarter.

Jacob Champine, starting at quarterback in place of Kameron Spencer, helped the Tigers get back into the game in the second half.

Champine had a dazzling 41-yard touchdown run in which it looked like he would be tackled at the 25, but his knees never touched the turf and he rambled for the score.

After Champine got an interception on defense, he threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Reid Davis, getting the Tigers within 21-12.

But Tyson Fuehrer threw touchdown passes to AJ Attaran and Caden Drobinski to put the Titans up 35-12 at halftime.

Maus added his two offensive touchdowns in the third quarter to help Union pull away.

Union plays at Camas next week, while Battle Ground (2-5, 0-2) faces Skyview.
