Letter: Choices are lacking on ballot

Right or left. Red or blue. Conservative or liberal. It seems lately, the candidates are from the two extremes. Why should we be forced to choose between a woman’s choice and funding the police? Can’t we have both? Or choose between rioters who disrupt neighborhoods for weeks on end or the military sent to protect the innocent stranded in the neighborhoods? Can’t we choose peace? Where are the candidates that represent the majority of us? Where is the common sense?

This year, as in years past, I will not be voting for the candidate I like and/or support. I will choose the least of two evils. Maybe the one who slings the least amount of mud. Maybe the one who can stand on their own agenda and not of the coattails of those who have come before. Not the best candidate, just the least bad alternative.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
