FISH of Vancouver seeks donations of new or gently used cookbooks and children’s books to be distributed to clients of the food pantry. Donations are accepted from 9 am to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday, at FISH, 906 Harney St., in downtown Vancouver. For more information, call 360-695-4903.

Friends of Trees seeks volunteers to join a planting crew. Online training is available through Oct. 29. Volunteers are expected to commit 20 hours, including online training and attending at least four planting events. Events are commonly held on Saturday mornings, October through May, with five options in Vancouver and more in the Portland metro area. Crew leaders are particularly needed in Vancouver. Ren Locus Volunteers Income Tax Assistance seeks volunteers to provide free tax-filing service for low-income families. Training to help volunteers pass the IRS tax-preparation certification exam is provided. The minimum commitment is four hours a week during tax season, Feb. 1 to April 17.
