SEATTLE — All lanes of the Highway 520 bridge reopened Thursday afternoon after a three-hour closure because of an overturned concrete truck, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

The truck drove partially up a barrier while traveling over the bridge, overturning around 12:30 p.m., according to the Washington State Patrol. Traffic had slowed and swerved because of a windblown garbage can, and the driver had tried to avoid hitting any other cars.

Westbound traffic backed up about 5 miles, according to the State Patrol, and the eastbound lanes were closed so tow trucks could upright the truck. The pedestrian bike path was also closed.

The concrete truck driver suffered minor injuries, the State Patrol said.

Sound Transit routes 542 and 545 were rerouted, King County Metro said.

Two semitruck rollover collisions this week snarled traffic in the region. The Fourth Avenue South and Edgar Martinez Drive onramp to eastbound Interstate 90 in Seattle was briefly closed Thursday morning after a semitruck rollover collision, while a collision Wednesday blocked the southbound Interstate 5 offramp to Interstate 405, the according to WSDOT.

No serious injuries were reported in either incidents.
