Stevenson falls short of upset bid at Toledo 34-28

Kacen Bach throws for three touchdowns, runs for another

Kacen Bach threw for 277 yards and three touchdowns and added a touchdown run, but it was not quite enough to pull off an upset, falling 34-28 to Toledo.

After clinching the Central 2B League South Division title last week, Thursday’s game was expected to be no more than a tune-up for third-ranked Toledo (8-1).

But Stevenson, playing out the last of its Central 2B schedule before moving to the Trico League next season, had other ideas.

The Bulldogs (3-6) answered every one of Toledo’s touchdowns with one of their own, the last coming on Bach’s 1-yard touchdown run that tied the game 28-28 with 2:50 left.

But Toledo was able to march down field and win it on Geoffrey Glass’ fourth touchdown run with less than a minute to play.

Frank Jenkins caught five passes for 144 yards and three touchdowns. He also had a fumble recovery.
