A motorcycle rider was fatally injured Saturday after their bike went off Northeast Lucia Falls Road in northern Clark County.

A statement from the Clark County Sheriff’s Department said the crash occurred about 5:56 p.m. near the 17800 block of Northeast Lucia Falls Road. It said a rider on a gray 2005 Yamaha FZ6 motorcycle was traveling east on the rural road in excess of the posted 40 mph speed limit when the rider failed to negotiate a turn and the bike went off the road.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin, according to the sheriff’s office statement. It said the sheriff office’s traffic unit will continue the investigation.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Clark County Fire District 3 and North Country Fire and EMS responded to the scene.
