Jalen Ward scored two touchdowns to La Center to a 21-6 non-league win over Woodland on Friday.

Woodland struck first with Brett Martynowicz hitting Justin Philpot for a 17-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter. But the La Center defense would tighten up to keep the Beavers scoreless the rest of the way.

Tru Feldman’s 2-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and Ben Rembiesz’s conversion kick put La Center up 7-6.

Ward scored on touchdown runs of 3 and 2 yards in the second half to seal the victory.

La Center plays at Kalama next Tuesday, while Woodland hosts Washougal on Friday to open play in the 2A Greater St. Helens League.
