CAMAS — Taylor Ioane threw for 303 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for another two scores as the Camas Papermakers got their first win of the season in a 45-21 win over Kelso in a non-league game Friday at Doc Harris Stadium.

Camas (1-3) jumped out to a 17-0 lead after the first quarter with Ioane hitting Trenton Swanson on a 48-yard touchdown pass, and Reid Tennant added a 1-yard touchdown run.

Camas defense that previously had given up 35 or more points in each game this season put an end to that as they Papermakers once again stopped Kelso on the next drive.

As Camas was driving down the field again, looking as if they were destined to score again, Kelso’s Ethan Mitchell had other plans picking off Taylor Ioane and returning it for 80 yards and the touchdown to get Kelso on the board.

But Camas and Ioane would bounce back marching down the field with the help of a pass interference call. Ioane was able to hand it off to Tennant and he would take it for 14 yard touchdown and a 24-7 lead.

The Papermakers picked right back up in the second half after stopping the Hilanders drive and scoring yet another touchdown, this time Taylor Ioane keeping it for the quarterback sneak TD and extending their lead to 31-7.

Kelso got its running game going finally, then Tucker Amrine connected with Bannick Allen for 14 yards and the score., cutting Kelso deficit to 31-14.

Then Ioane showed why he is leading the area in passing yards, driving down the field and connecting with Swanson once again for 15 yards and bringing the score to 38-14.

After Amrine’s 1-yard touchdown run cut Camas’ lead to 38-21, a failed onside kick attempt by the Hilanders gave Camas a short field.

Tennant then went to work, running for gains of 4 yards, 17 yards, 2 yards, and 6 yards. Finally, a fake handoff to Tennant allowed  Ioane to run in for a 15-yard touchdown to cap the scoring.
