The Woodland Beavers held an impromptu “Turn Back the Clock” night at Beaver Stadium Friday night as they ran the ball early, often and very successfully in a 28-21 victory over the Columbia River Rapids in 2A Greater St. Helens League football contest.
The Woodland ground game was led by sophomore Elijah Andersen who rushed for 182 yards and a touchdown and offensive guard/fullback Daeton Lofgren scored three touchdowns of his own.
All told the Beavers rushed for 214 yards and ran 58 plays on offense compared to 35 for the Rapids.
Woodland (1-1 in 2A GSHL play, 2-2 overall) set the tone on the opening drive of the game, chewing up nearly 10 minutes of the clock with a 15-play, 75-yard drive ending in a Lofgren two-yard run. After Columbia River (0-2, 1-3) tied the game on an Adam Watts touchdown run, the Beavers responded with another touchdown and never trailed again.
