The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an early morning crash Monday at an intersection near the Clark County Event Center at the Fairgrounds that knocked out power to the traffic signals.

Deputies responded at about 12:30 a.m. to reports of a suspicious, abandoned vehicle near the intersection of Northeast 179th Street and 15th Avenue. They arrived to find a crashed F-350 pickup south of the intersection, according to a news release.

Investigators determined the pickup was traveling east on 179th Street when it went off the road in the 1400 block. It then went through a ditch before crossing a field, where it crashed into a large utility box. The truck continued across 15th Avenue and crashed into a fence, the sheriff’s office said.

No one was reported injured.

The damaged utility box meant traffic signals at the intersection lost power. The truck also damaged several road signs along 179th Street, the news release states.

Clark County Public Works responded to the area, but crews were unable to restore power immediately due to the amount of damage. Officials used temporary stop signs at the intersection until power was restored to the traffic signals later in the morning, the sheriff’s office said.

The crash remains under investigation.
