Prep highlights: Columbia River baseball rallies for two in seventh to beat Mark Morris

The Columbia River baseball team rallied for two runs in the top of the seventh to beat Mark Morris 3-2, handing the Monarchs their first loss of the season.

Kaden MacDonald opened the rally with a one-out double. After the second out, Austin Habets doubled MacDonald home to tie the game 2-2. Then Noah Larson singled to center to score Habets with the go-ahead run.

Noah Coakes came on in the bottom of the seventh to record the save with help from Cole Backlund throwing out a runner trying to steal third to end the game.

Stars of the day

Brady Davis, Skyview baseball, went 3 for 4, including a three-run home run in the top of the seventh to lift the Storm to a 4-1 win over Battle Ground.

Jarod Oldham, Hockinson baseball, struck out 10 over 6.2 innings as Hawks score four in the sixth beat R.A. Long 5-1.

Jacob Bellamy, Washougal baseball, went 2 for 4 with 3 RBI, including the go-ahead run in a three-run sixth for Washougal beat Woodland 8-6 at Propstra Stadium.

Travis Gibson, Washougal baseball, struck out 11 and allowsed just one hit in a complete-game shutout in a 9-0 win over Fort Vancouver, the Panthers’ second win Saturday at Propstra.
