The Fort Vancouver National Historic Site and Southwest Washington American Red Cross will host a free disaster preparedness information session at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Pearson Air Museum, 115 E. Fifth St.

Presentations cover the basics of disaster preparedness, including what supplies are essential for emergency kits, the fundamentals of a family communication plan and potential hazards posed by specific disasters. Such events involve home fires, floods, windstorms and wildfires.

Participants will receive an official Red Cross Prepare Guide and other handouts.

“Whether you’ve lived in Southwest Washington your entire life or are new to the area, there will be a lot to learn at this disaster preparedness presentation,” said Fort Vancouver Superintendent Tracy Fortmann in a release.
