Letter: Freedom requires responsibility

Remember citizens, your unalienable rights come from your creator, not government. Governments’ job is to protect and secure your life and liberty. This was the Declaration of Independence July 4, 1776.

It was followed up by the Constitution, which outlined the precise limits on government. It lays out the strategies to keep government power limited and under control.

Every representative takes an oath to uphold and protect the Constitution. Every vote should be weighed against the limits imposed by the Constitution. The votes they take to enslave us with debt, open borders, fight foreign wars and impose mandates violate their oath to the Constitution.

The Tenth and Fourteenth Amendments require state and local governments and agencies to operate under the limits imposed by the federal Constitution.

The next effort by governments to seize our freedom will be the next emergency roll-out. Remember the last one. No school, church, social gatherings, businesses closed, mandates for masks and vaccines. Think about it. Will we have any freedom left if we submit to another lockdown?

Freedom is risky. It requires responsibility by the individual for themselves, families and community. That is the bargain we make. Our founders gave us the tools to keep our freedom.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
