Letter: Give animal control more power

I am so disappointed in our animal control, specifically what they are permitted to do.

My daughter has been calling for months about a neighbor’s good-sized dog that is kept in a cage almost 24/7 . . . never taken for walks or even uncaged in the house. It’s inhumane, and there should be a law. But apparently as long as the dog has food and water, a healthy weight, and a healthy coat, it’s OK to cage him all of the time. I even went in to their office to discuss this, and was told that there is nothing they can do.
