Letter: Pay attention to tragedy

By Gale Beagle, Vancouver

Yes the Titan disaster was a tragedy. Five rich men spending millions of dollars putting their lives at risk for a submarine ride that was not safe to begin with. Now governments spend millions more looking for them. Now that we know what happened they are spending even more dollars to find out why the Titan exploded.

Yes, it was sad that five men died and the news focused on that for days. But a few days ago a ship off the coast of Greece with several hundred refugees sank and most of them died. It was no big deal to most people that this many people drowned. These refugees were looking for a better life. We need to ask ourselves why we did not take this ship tragedy as seriously? Are not all people valuable?
