Letter: Reject education bill

State Senate Bill 5462: It’s a rabbit hole. We shouldn’t even go there. Today, the legitimacy of school boards is in question. Traditional American K-12 boards are harassed and manipulated by the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and the Board of Education. But a bigger problem is micromanagement by the Legislature.

SB 5462 mandates accommodation of very specific “historically marginalized and underrepresented groups.”

Do we need to lock schools into statewide curricula? Should we keep school boards from their duty to serve the local needs and values? Senate Bill 5462 will send the message that school boards cannot be trusted to develop and maintain a diverse, equitable and inclusive K-12 education program.

Urge your state senator to vote “no” on SB 5462.
