Letter: Enforce speed limit on Fourth Plain

We can probably save time and money, not to mention traffic problems, and make Fourth Plain safer at the same time with one simple idea. Enforce the speed limit. Narrower lanes are not a good solution, especially with the monster cars and trucks seen around town. If there were an occasional police officer on the stretch mentioned, and one or two tickets issued, we would see a safer Fourth Plain without the expense. Just seeing an occasional police car might do the trick. Also, it has been shown that those signs that show your speed actually work to slow traffic down.

That said, a more reasonable speed limit for such a street might be helpful. People may be more willing to do 35 than 30, especially if it were enforced, and we would not have the unsafe passing that now occurs.
