Our all-electric home has been heated 100 percent for 40 years with a heat pump system and saves us money. Plus, we have no risk of a gas leak or fire, no chimney and no air pollution.
Our electric car has been powered for seven years partly by the electricity from our solar panels in the Clark Public Utilities Community Solar Project. We drive on sunshine. It saves us money. Plus, no tailpipe and no air pollution.
In 30 years, our experience will be universal but we’ve run out of time for a go-slow approach. The Climate Commitment Act is designed to accelerate the transition to solar, electric vehicles, and heat pumps. It is also designed to reduce the energy costs for low-income members of our community.
Ask your legislators to spend the Climate Commitment Act Funds only as intended: to reduce air pollution from burning fossil fuels, particularly in overburdened communities, and to reduce the energy costs for income-qualifying citizens.
