Letter: Columnist is wrong again

Jay Ambrose defames himself and this newspaper with his Fox News version of events surrounding the East Palestine disaster (“Pete Buttigieg defames himself,” The Columbian, March 7). When he first appeared in this paper, I researched him. One of the most repeated comments was “the man who has never been right about anything.” His record remains unbroken. He is nothing more than a repeater in the right-wing disinformation network.

Before he gets on the bandwagon of “why didn’t the transportation secretary drop everything and go to Ohio the day of the wreck and make a statement” he ought to know why that matters, or if it is really a good idea to fly off the handle with half a load, like Jay always does.

What Ambrose fed readers on March 7 is a distorted right-wing set of talking points that are a deliberate cover for the real source of the East Palestine rail disaster — GOP deregulation and corporate tax loopholes that discourage investment in safety and reward cost-cutting that endangers all of us.
