A huge power outage was reported on the west side of Clark County on Tuesday morning, leaving people in the dark from downtown Vancouver north to Hazel Dell.

The power went out at The Columbian about 8:20 a.m. The newspaper has generators, but the same can’t be said of the thousands of residents across the west side.

By 8:30 a.m. Clark Public Utilities had reports of 13,000 customers without power. By 8:40 a.m. the utility had begun getting customers’ lights back on with about 3,500 customers’ power restored. By 9 a.m. the only outage in the county was affecting 10 customers east of Brush Prairie.

The utility said on Twitter that the outage was caused by an outage on the Bonneville Power Administration side of operations.
