Professional ultimate disc games set for Kiggins Bowl

Professional ultimate disc is coming to Vancouver this Friday, May 6.

A pair of Portland-based teams will play a doubleheader at Kiggins Bowl.

At 5:45 p.m., the Oregon Onyx women’s team will face the Utah Wild. At 8 p.m., the Portland Nitro men’s team opens its 12-game season against the Salt Lake Shred.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students. Kids 12 and under are free.

The Nitro play in the American Ultimate Disc League, an organization founded in 2012 that has 23 teams across the United States and Canada.

Portland, which joined the league in 2022, is in the West Division along with Seattle, Salt Lake, Oakland, Los Angeles, Colorado and San Diego.

The Nitro played its home games last season at Providence Park, but has not announced a location for home games after Friday’s.

Portland boasts the AUDL’s 2022 rookie of the year Leandro Marx, who led the league in receiving yards and total yards.

The Onyx play on the eight-team Western Ultimate League, an eight-team league that began play in 2022. Oregon’s game at Kiggins Bowl is the fifth in the team’s six-game season.
