The Columbian Editorial Board missed the mark in its analysis of the population projection process (“Population projection process leaves bad taste,” In Our View, May 7).
First, public hearings should be welcomed. Insinuating that members of the public are not intelligent enough to speak eloquently about the county’s population leaves a bad taste in the mouth of this reader.
Second, if there were enough land available for housing construction in the first place, we wouldn’t be in the housing affordability crisis we’re in today.
Third, to continue the narrative that the building industry yields more power than other interest groups is laughable when we consider how much power the environmental lobby holds over our state’s politicians.
