Run-scoring singles by Matthew Manjooran, Jake Swenson and Max Fraser in the third put Camas up for good as the Papermakers beat Kennedy Catholic 8-4 on Saturday to clinch a berth in the 4A baseball state playoffs.

Camas jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings in a 4A bi-district consolation game in Puyallup. But Kennedy countered with four in the third to go up 4-3.

KELSO TO STATE; PRAIRIE OUT AFTER LOSING TWICE — Kelso scored five runs in the top of the fifth to blow open a 1-1 game and clinch a 3A state playoff berth with a 7-1 win over Prairie at the 3A bi-district tournament in Auburn.

Prairie loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the fourth, but only got one run home on a fielder’s choice, tying the game 1-1.

A run-scoring single by Zaden Hoover and a sacrifice fly of Zeke Smith put Kelso up 3-1 in the fifth. Then Connor Wesermann’s bases-loaded double made it 6-1.

From there, Logan Barker kept Prairie quiet. Barker threw a complete game, allowing seven hits, three walks and striking out four.

Hoover finished 3 for 4 with two RBI, Smith was 2- for 3 with two RBI and Wesermann was 2 for 4 with three RBI.

After the loss to Kelso, Prairie fell to Auburn Riverside 8-6 in eight innings in a winner-to-state/loser-out game.

The Ravens tallied five runs in the third, Prairie rallied from a 6-1 deficit to force extra innings.

Prairie scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to cut the deficit to 6-5, then Brayden Petrowski’s RBI single with two out in the bottom of the seventh forced extra innings.

But the Ravens got a pair of RBI doubles in the top of the eighth to go up 8-6.

Prairie loaded the bases in the bottom of the eighth before Riverside recorded the final out.
