Former Fort Vancouver High School band teacher receives surprise performance

MEADOW HOMES — Longtime Vancouver resident and former Fort Vancouver High School band teacher Ray Johnson was surprised by the Washougal High School jazz ensemble with a special performance at his home driveway. After learning Johnson has been battling late-stage cancer, his dentist of 20 years, Dr. Justin Perkins, whose son plays in the ensemble, arranged for the driveway concert to cheer up a beloved patient.
