The Clark County Planning Commission will hold a work session at 5:30 p.m. Thursday followed by a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. June 15 to review proposed amendments to county code and the comprehensive plan.

Both meetings will be held in the sixth-floor hearing room of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St. in Vancouver. Meetings can also be attended virtually through the WebEx platform.

The proposed changes address short-term strategies detailed in the Housing Options Study and Action Plan for smaller single-family detached homes and middle housing, which includes accessory dwelling units, duplexes, triplexes, quadplexes, townhouses and cottages, in existing low-density residential zones within the unincorporated Vancouver Urban Growth Area.

The proposal also includes amendments to the land use and housing element chapters in the county’s Comprehensive Plan. Bills passed by the state Legislature during the last session addressing middle housing will require each jurisdiction in the county to update its housing codes and growth plan.

Agendas for the Thursday work session and June 15 public hearing, as well information on how to attend the meetings, is available at https://clark.wa.gov/community-planning/planning-commission-hearings-and-meeting-notes.
