Letter: Thanks to local officials

By Terry and Mary Jo McCann, VANCOUVER

We would like to thank Clark County Fire District 6 personnel, Clark County sheriff’s officers and NW Natural for their efforts to cordon off the area on 99th Street by Columbia River High School after the water main contractor damaged a gas pipeline. We were asked to evacuate until the leak could be repaired and the air cleared.

Neighbors passed the word to others. Since it was dinnertime, some local restaurants likely saw an uptick in business on Thursday evening.

NW Natural crews came door to door to shut off, then restart our meters and relight our pilot lights. Thanks for working late so we could have a hot shower in the morning.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
