CAMAS – On July 18, the Camas Lions club celebrated 85 years of service to the community and the world. The anniversary event was a highlight of the club’s summer festivities.

A journey through the club’s history was presented by member Harvey Keene. Through a nostalgic slideshow, attendees were transported back in time, reliving the club’s instrumental role in funding the Camas Pool at Crown Park. An interactive display added to the fun as members tested their knowledge of past meeting locations.

Guest speaker JD Nellor provided further insights into the club’s rich history and impressive achievements. Nellor emphasized the pivotal role of the Vancouver Lions club in sponsoring the Camas Lions, as well as the subsequent sponsorship of the Washougal Lions by the Camas club.

Mayor Steve Hogan expressed the city’s deep gratitude for the Camas Lions’ commitment to the community over the past 85 years. The mayor specifically acknowledged the club’s recent support of the EatWell Camas Community Garden, CamTown Youth Festival and Downtown Camas Association events.
