Prep Roundup: Ridgefield boys basketball rallies past La Center, 64-62

The Ridgefield boys basketball team kicked off its season with a rally and a road win.

The Spudders overcame an 11-point deficit in the fourth quarter to beat La Center 64-62 on Wednesday.

Down 58-47 with 6:39 to play, Ridgefield took a 63-62 lead on Jack Hughes’ layup with 1:03 left.

Hughes then blocked a potential game-tying shot inside the final 10 seconds.

Jamison McCann scored 30 points, including 15 of Ridgefield’s 17 points in the third quarter.

Logan Rainey hit five 3-pointers and scored 34 points for La Center (0-1).

KING’S WAY CHRISTIAN 68, ADNA 62 — Jackson Lovato scored 26 points and Patrick Carney added nine of his 16 points in a decisive fourth quarter.

Adna took a 44-43 lead into the fourth quarter, but the Knights outscored the Adniers 25-18 in the fourth quarter to win. Lovato had seven in the fourth quarter, and Jesse Hartsell added six of his 12 points.

Girls basketball

PRAIRIE 46, RIDGEFIELD 42, OT — Harmony Fallin and Gabriella Kay-Corrales each scored 11 points as the Falcons improved to 2-0 with a road win in overtime.

Andrea Garrett scored nine points and Olivia Brown added eight points. Each had four points in overtime as Prairie outscored Ridgefield 8-4.

Allie Doman had 14 points to lead the Spudders.

WOODLAND 64, KALAMA 29 — Kennedy Bockert scored 24 points, Addi Stading added 20 points and the Beavers improved to 1-1 with a home win.

Stading also had seven steals and hit three of Woodland’s six 3-pointers.

The Beavers outscored Kalama 39-11 in the second half.

ADNA 65, KING’S WAY CHRISTIAN 27 — Karsyn Freeman scored 26 points and the Pirates, who placed fifth in last year’s Class 2B state tournament, rolled to a win.

Bridgett Quinn had 12 points and eight rebounds for the Knights. Addison Bagley added eight points and 10 rebounds.

Stars of the day

  • Zuri Fagaale, Colunmbia River girls bowling, rolled 373 (168-205) for the high score in a 1865-1809 win over Fort Vancouver.
  • Mercedes Gonzalez, Camas girls bowling, rolled 407 (171-236) for the high score in a match won by Battle Ground 1951-1909.
  • Addy Case, Skyview girls bowling, rolled 448 (246-202) for the high score in a 1937-1421 win over Mountain View.
