Damarien Walden scored 24 points, including a go-ahead free throw with 2.2 seconds left, as Evergreen edged Kennewick 71-70 on Saturday.
Dez Daniel added 20 points for the Plainsmen, who made 12 of 13 free throws in the second half.
Evergreen (1-1) withstood a fast start by Kennewick, which made seven 3-pointers in the first half and led 41-34 at the break.
Boys basketball
MOUNTAIN VIEW 100, SULTAN 46 — Malcolm Weatherspoon scored 22 points, Tre’von Hughes-Farmer added 20 points and the Thunder couldn’t be stopped in the second half of a non-league road win.
Up 36-21 at halftime, Mountain View (2-1) scored 32 points in both the third and fourth quarters.
Luke Swerdlik had 14 points and hit four of the Thunder’s 12 3-pointers.
CAMAS 75, MOUNT VERNON 35 — Ethan Harris scored 21 points and Jace VanVoorhis added 17 points as the Papermakers won at the John McCrossin Memorial Classic in Fife.
Harris had five 3-pointers as Camas (1-1) hit 13 3-pointers.
MEAD 54, SKYVIEW 43 — Karson Maze scored 20 of his 24 points in the second half, inlcuding 15 in the fourth quarter, as the Panthers pulled away for a win in Spokane.
Malakai Weimer led Skyview (2-1) with 21 points as he went 9 for 13 from the foul line.
LAKES 58, PRAIRIE 57 — Malachi Patton scored 16 points and Carson Morningstar added 15 point but the Falcons (1-1) narrowly lost at the John McCrossin Memorial Classic in Fife.
Prairie’s Daniel Carbajal-Vargas hit three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter accounting for all nine of his points.
LAKE CITY 69, UNION 60 — Lake City of Coeur d’Alene Idaho hit 14 3-pointers, including a pivotal one with two minutes to play, to beat the Titans.
Pat Howe scored 21 points to lead the Titans, and Kody Holcomb added 15.
MARK MORRIS 74, ABERDEEN 44 — Dalton Stevens scored 25 points and Drew Ibarreta added 13 as the Monarchs breezed to a non-league win.
“It was a great night all the way around,” Mark Morris coach Ken Kelly said. “We jumped out to a 26-2 lead early and eventually got it to a running clock situation in the second half. I thought we executed the defensive game plan well and had a lot of players step up and contribute.”
Girls basketball
BATTLE GROUND 43, HOCKINSON 35 — The Tigers led 22-11 at halftime and held on for a home win.
Charlotte Jones led Battle Ground (1-2) with 12 points.
Zienita Stidum scored seven points to lead Hockinson (0-4).
JESUIT (Ore.) 51, SETON CATHOLIC 23 — Amani Lubrano scored 26 points and Seton was held to five points in a non-league road loss.
Madison Lee led the Cougars with seven points.
