RIDGEFIELD — The Ridgefield Lions are making community service a priority during the 2024 holiday season.

“That’s our motto: We serve,” Ridgefield Lions President Josh Olson said. “We truly put it into action this year.”

Individual Lions dipped into their pockets to provide $2,550 for Compassion 360’s turkey dinner boxes for local families. The club matched those donations for a total of $5,100. Lions also worked to assemble and deliver the boxes, which in addition to a turkey included mashed potatoes, stuffing and several other food items to round out a holiday meal. The Cowlitz Tribe donated the turkeys, and other funding came from local churches and individuals.

The club partnered with the Ridgefield Friendship Club, the Ridgefield Readers Book Club, Copper Bell Bookshop and a local group to purchase and deliver 100 gifts for children to the Family Resource Center. The Opus School of Music donated a guitar it restrung and tuned.

The Ridgefield Lions also supported “Shop With A Cop” with a $2,000 donation.

“We really think about where our dollars can do the most good for the Ridgefield community,” Olson said. “It’s our home and the place we want to help.”

The Ridgefield Lions also initiated new member Cathy Rafanelli during their monthly meeting Nov. 20.
