Anyone with information about the Dec. 4 fatal Vancouver police shooting outside an east Vancouver Safeway is asked to call a tip line established by the Office of Independent Investigations.

The tip line is 564-250-5811. This is the first investigation of a police shooting in the state probed by the office.

Vancouver police contacted a man at 10:48 p.m. in the parking lot of Safeway, 13719 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd.

The man and an officer, whose identities have not been released, got into a physical fight. During the fight, the man pulled out a gun. One officer shot the man, who was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to the police department’s statement.

The Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the man’s name and cause and manner of death.

One officer was injured in the fight and medically treated, investigators said.
