Ari Richardson scored a program record 43 points with 10 made 3-pointers to lead the Columbia River boys basketball team to 92-50 rout of Ridgefield on the road Thursday.
Richardson caught fire from long range with a trio of 3-pointers during the Rapids’ 28-point first quarter. There was no stopping the senior guard from there.
Richardson led all scorers with 25 points at halftime, then added four more shots from deep in the third quarter, with the Rapids holding a commanding 74-38 lead entering the final quarter.
Aaron Hoey poured in 18 points and Adam Reeder added 12 points for the Rapids (3-0, 2-0 2A Greater St. Helens League), one of three teams atop the league standings along with Mark Morris and R.A. Long.
Jamison McCann scored 25 points to lead the Spudders (3-1, 1-1), who saw their three-game win streak snapped to open the season.
MARK MORRIS 71, WOODLAND 45 — Dalton Stevens scored 11 of his 22 points in the second quarter, helping lead the Monarchs to their fifth straight win to open the season.
Led by Stevens, Mark Morris outscored Woodland 24-8 in the second quarter and led 39-18 at the halftime break. Jadyn Brooks added 14 points and Nathan Stephens chipped in 12 points for the Monarchs.
Jackson Gabbard’s 13 points paced the Beavers, while Michael Belvin added 10 points.
R.A. LONG 82, WASHOUGAL 53 — Four R.A. Long players reached double figures in scoring, led by Payton Thill’s 19 points, to grab a 2A GSHL win at home.
Joshua Crane and Cam Newsome each added 13 points, and Landon Irwin poured in 12 points for the Lumberjacks, who trailed 14-13 after the first quarter, then outscored the Panthers 28-6 in the second to take a 41-20 halftime lead.
Jackson Multanen and Dylan Gibson each scored 12 points to lead the Panthers.
SKYVIEW 68, PRAIRIE 56 — The Storm battled foul trouble and Prairie’s 1-2 punch of Carson Morningstar and Malachi Patton to earn a hard-fought non-league win.
Malakai Weimer led Skyview with 17 points and eight rebounds despite missing the second quarter with two fouls.
Leading 33-26 at halftime, the Storm outscored the Falcons 27-18 in the third quarter behind 10 points from Weimer. Ryan Hanson added 15 points and seven rebounds. Zeno Calastas added 11 points and five rebounds, while getting the defensive assignment on Morningstar, who led Prairie with 18 points.
“We had a great third quarter to get us a good lead,” Skyview coach Matt Gruhler said. “We played with great defensive energy. Zeno Calastas played great defense on Morningstar and his energy was infectious.”
Patton added 17 points for the Falcons and Ben Nkansah chipped in 10 points.
