VANCOUVER – Molina Healthcare of Washington recently presented $5,000 to Sakura 39ers Youth Association to help fund a Chuukese community volleyball tournament for underserved adolescents.

The grant helped to pay for equipment and facility rental. The Sakura 39ers hosted the event, which brought together Chuukese youth from across the country, as well as participants from Guam and Chuuk.

“This generous donation from Molina helped bridge a gap, enabling us to host an event that celebrated sportsmanship, competition, and the Chuukese culture for these amazing youth,” said Dania Rescue Otto, executive director of Sakura 39ers Youth Association.

“Molina is grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of these athletes and bring Chuuk youth together from around the world to share their common interest in a sport they all enjoy,” said Dr. Jay Fathi, plan president of Molina Healthcare of Washington.
