Portraits of courage

The National Park Service and Living History Group Northwest will host the eighth annual World War II Encampment from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site, 1001 E. Fifth St. Guests can stroll through the encampment and talk to history volunteers portraying members of U.S. Army units from World War II including medics, cavalry, infantry and the Women’s Army Corps. The costumed volunteers bring their own uniforms, weapons, tents and equipment, including period-specific military Jeeps and trucks. For details, call 360-816-6230 or visit nps.gov/fova/index.htm.

Southern sounds

Nashville in the Northwest starts at 7 p.m. Sunday in the Pavilion Tent at Camas Meadows Golf Club, 4105 N.W. Camas Meadows Drive, Camas. This songwriters’ festival and concert series features country and Americana’s top artists from Nashville, Tenn., and the Pacific Northwest. Each performance is presented listening-room style, with three or four songwriters sharing songs and stories, and trading harmonies. Buy tickets at justinklump.com/nashvilleinthenorthwest.

Go whole hog

Northwood Public House and Brewery’s pig roast is 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Whole hogs are roasted with Italian sausage and seasoned pork loins. Kids can enjoy balloon art, face-painting and a coloring contest. Hear live music with Dan Dingman, “King” Louis Pain and Renato Carante, later joined by Edwin Coleman and Sean Holmes (collectively, The Four Kings) at the brewery, 1401 S.E. Tastes and tunes

English Estate Winery, 17806 S.E. First St., Vancouver, offers Good Times and Wine from 6 to 8 p.m. every Friday through Aug. 30. Guests can bring picnic dinners and buy wine, cider and soft drinks from the winery. Michael Riopelle will perform Friday. Guests may also purchase charcuterie boards for $20; order online at englishestatewinery.com. The winery will also host Songwriters in the Round from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, featuring singers and songwriters playing original songs. Guests are encouraged to bring picnic dinners. Cars, crafts and community

Founder’s Coffee and Mercantile is hosting an outdoor Craft and Artisan Market from noon to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday in conjunction with Battle Ground Harvest Days. The market features handmade wood products, jewelry, farm produce, honey, flowers, decor, crafts, quilts, candles, essential oils and vintage clothes. Founder’s Coffee, 317 E.
