DETROIT — Eminem is working some of that old Slim Shady magic as his new single “Houdini” debuts at No. 2 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100 chart.
It’s the 51-year-old Detroit rapper’s highest charting single in more than a decade, since “The Monster,” his hit duet with Rihanna, topped the chart in 2013. Overall its his 23rd Top 10 hit and his first since “Godzilla,” his 2020 track with Juice Wrld, which peaked at No. 3 on the chart.
“Houdini” arrived May 31 and has since logged more than 85 million streams on Spotify. Its music video — which, like the song, is a playful callback to Eminem’s 2002 hit “Without Me” — has racked up more than 60 million views on YouTube.
“Houdini” just missed a No. 1 debut, and is blocked by Morgan Wallen and Post Malone’s “I Had Some Help,” which spends a fourth week atop the tally. Tommy Richman’s “Million Dollar Baby,” Shaboozy’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” round out the top five.
