Call for Artists: Photos sought for Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge contest

Friends of Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge and Pro Photo Supply are now accepting submission for their annual photo contest. Photographs must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Sept. 3 to prophotosupply.com.

The adult contest is open to professional and amateur photographers 18 or older. The youth contest is open to ages 10-17 in fifth through 12th grades.

Each contestant can submit up to six color or black-and-white photographs. Only digital images may be submitted (as opposed to printed photographs).

Photographs must be taken within areas of the refuge open to the public during accessible hours. No images of great horned owls will be accepted in this year’s contest. Each digital photo must be 1500 by 2100 at 300 dpi in JPG format.

Categories include birds, wildlife, landscapes and structures.

First place winners get a high-quality print of the winning photograph, a $150 Pro Photo Supply gift card and a gallery showing during BirdFest & Bluegrass.
