Girls soccer roundup: Mountain View clinches state berth with penalty-kick shootout win over Enumclaw

Skyview also clinches state berth through shootout against Tahoma

Izabela Steinborn came up with a save in the sixth round of a penalty-kick shootout and Camila Cruz-Gutierrez converted sending the Mountain View girls soccer team to a victory over Enumclaw in a winner-to-state game Saturday in the 3A bi-district playoffs at Mountain View.

After a 2-2 draw through 90 minutes of play, each team converted on their first five attempts in the PK shootout with Teaghan Irvin, Jaleyah Pitre, Emilia Rosic, Lauren Adams and Ana Garling converting for the Thunder.

Then Steinborn got the critical stop of Enumclaw’s sixth attempt, opening the door for Cruz-Gutierrez to hit the winner.

Mountain View rallied from a 1-0 deficit to tie the match on a pair of goals by Irvin. Adams assisted on the second. Steinborn recorded seven saves during regulation and overtime.

Mountain View will face Gig Harbor in the bi-district semifinals on Tuesday at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma.

SKYVIEW 1, TAHOMA 0, OT-PKS — Skyview won a penalty-kick shootout 7-6 after a 0-0 draw to clinch a berth to 4A state playoffs.

Brynnlee Williams recorded three saves in goal for the Storm, who will face Sumner in the 4A bi-district semifinals on Tuesday in Federal Way.

UNION 1, OLYMPIA 0, OT — Haleigh Miller scored the golden goal in overtime on an assist from Ava Kreiger as the Titans won a loser-out match in the 4A bi-district tournament.

The Titans advance to play Puyallup in another loser-out match Tuesday at Art Crate Field in Spanaway.

SUMNER 1, CAMAS 0 — The Papermakers’ fell into the loser-out bracket of the 4A bi-district tournament. Camas plays Kennedy Catholic on 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in Sumner. No other details were reported.

CENTRAL KITSAP 3, PRAIRIE 0 — The Falcons’ season ended with a loss in the 3A bi-district tournament. No other details were reported.

GIG HARBOR 5, KELSO 0 — Kelso fell into the loser-out bracket. The Hilanders will face Central Kitsap Tuesday in Lakewood. No other details were reported.

COLUMBIA RIVER 3, MARK MORRIS 0 — Ivy Henderson had a hat-trick as the Rapids advance to the semifinals of the 2A district tournament.

Two of Henderson’s three goals were assisted by Raya Janson. The other came on a penalty kick.

The Rapids will host W.F. West of Chehalis in the district semifinals on Wednesday.

Mark Morris will face R.A. Long in a loser-out match Wednesday in Longview.

RIDGEFIELD 4, WOODLAND 0 — The Spudders advanced to the district semifinals with a win. No other details were reported.

Ridgefield will play at Tumwater on Wednesday. Woodland plays at Hockinson in a loser-out match on Wednesday.

TUMWATER 5, HOCKINSON 1 — Bridget Brennan scored the Hawks’ lone goal on an assist from Brooke Roberts as Hockinson fell into the loser-out bracket.
