The suspect in the fatal shooting Halloween night at Vancouver Mall has been arrested, the Vancouver Police Department said Saturday night.

Travis L. Ward, 32, of Vancouver surrendered to police after Vancouver detectives, with assistance from SWAT, arrived at a residence Saturday where he was believed to be, according to a statement from the agency.

Ward was booked into the Clark County Jail on suspicion of one count of first-degree murder and two counts of first-degree assault, police said. The jail roster shows he is scheduled to make a first appearance on the allegations Monday afternoon in Clark County Superior Court.

One man was killed and two others wounded in the shooting in the second-level food court at the mall.

The two wounded men, ages 30 and 40, were treated at an area hospital and released by Friday.

As of Friday, Vancouver police had not yet confirmed the identity or age of the man killed. The Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the deceased’s identity and cause and manner of death.

Vancouver police said several tips that helped identify Ward and his whereabouts came through social media.

Police released photos of two women who were at Vancouver Mall at the time of the shooting. Through social media tips, detectives were able to identify and contact the women, who were cooperative with detectives regarding the investigation. Neither is considered a suspect or a person of interest in the case, police said.

The shooting was about 7:30 p.m. while the mall was holding a trick-or-treating event. The shooting sent hundreds of customers running for exits or sheltering in place at stores all over the mall.

The mall reopened Friday afternoon.

The Vancouver Police Department Major Crime Unit is heading the investigation.

Correction: An earlier version of this story had an incorrect age for Ward.
