Cross country: Eliisa Marshall finishes second to lead Camas girls to 4A bi-district team title

Union girls, Camas and Union boys, Prairie and Kelso girls also advance to state meet

Eliisa Marshall finished second overall as the Camas girls cross country team won the team title in the 4A race at the Westside Classic bi-district cross country meet Saturday in University Place.

Marshall, a senior, covered the 3.1-mile course at Chambers Creek Properties Central Meadow in 18 minutes, 27 seconds to finish behind Latham West of Bonney Lake, who won in 18:11.

Camas scored 123 points to take the team title ahead of Stadium (140). Union placed sixth to also earn a team berth to next weekend’s state meet in Pasco.

Skyview’s Daphne Evenson was fourth in 18:37 and Sara Thompson of Union was 10th in 19:19. Ella Koch of Union (12th, 19:29) and Elizabeth Nava of Camas (16th, 19:48) also placed in the top 20.

Chloe Copes of Prairie was the top local finisher in the 3A girls race, placing 20th in 20:46. No local team advanced to the state meet.

Cohen Butler of Camas was the top local finisher in the 4A boys race, placing fourth in 16:12.

Butler led Camas to a fourth-place team finish with 158, earning a trip to state along with Union. The Titans were sixth at 175.

Bradley Harris of Union was fifth in 16:25. Lord King Nana-Badu-Weah (13th, 16:34) and Sabin Kotsovos of Union (15th, 16:36) were the other two local top-20 finishers.

Dekota Houfek of Prairie led the way for locals in the 3A boys race, finishing seventh in 16:40. Tavin Timperley was 10th in 16:43, helping Prairie earn a state berth by placing fifth. Kelso also advanced as a team by finishing seventh.
