Ridgefield taken down by Fife in 2A football preliminary round

Spudders’ season ends with 34-7 loss

RIDGEFIELD — Vadym and Slavik Shemedyuk combined for 302 rushing yards and five touchdowns as Fife toppled Ridgefield 34-7 in the WIAA 2A preliminary round at Spudder Stadium Saturday afternoon.

The visiting Trojans (7-3) of the South Puget Sound League accumulated 410 yards on the ground to keep the hometown Spudders (8-2) at bay.

Ridgefield’s lone score came on a 53-yard catch-and-run score from Landon DeBeaumont to Talon Sosky in the fourth quarter.

The loss ended Ridgefield’s season with a second straight defeat after beginning the season 8-0.

All five competing 2A GSHL teams lost in Week 10 postseason action.

Fife will learn its Round of 16 opponent Sunday.
