The Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office on Wednesday identified a 40-year-old Vancouver man as the pedestrian fatally struck by a car Nov. 21 in east Vancouver.

Zachary Childers died from multiple traumatic injuries, according to the medical examiner’s office. His death was ruled an accident.

Vancouver police officers responded about 6:20 p.m. to a report of a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash at the intersection of Northeast Fourth Plain Boulevard and 117th Avenue, according to a statement from the police department.

Childers was in the crosswalk on the west side of the intersection, against the light, when a vehicle approached the intersection and hit him, police said.

Childers was taken to an area hospital, but he did not survive his injuries.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police. Impairment is not believed to be a factor in the crash, according to the police statement.
